Adult Safeguarding Training – Levels 1 & 2
Duration: 4-5 Hours | Recommended Frequency: Annually
Location: Training can be conducted in-house, at your venue anywhere in the UK.


Overview

This Adult Safeguarding Training equips participants with the knowledge and skills to recognize, report, and respond to concerns of abuse or inappropriate care involving vulnerable adults. Understanding and addressing these concerns is critical for all individuals working in social and care sectors.

This course is divided into two levels:

  • AP1: For staff who may come into contact with vulnerable adults but do not have direct care responsibilities (e.g., domestic and catering staff).
  • AP2: For those directly involved in client care or service establishment (e.g., leisure assistants, care workers, and social workers).

Programme Outline

  1. Introduction and Legislation
    • Overview of safeguarding laws and responsibilities.
  2. Identifying a Vulnerable Adult
    • Understanding vulnerability and who is at risk.
  3. Types of Abuse
    • Physical, emotional, financial, sexual, neglect, and institutional abuse.
  4. Signs and Symptoms of Abuse
    • How to recognize indications of mistreatment.
  5. Reporting Abuse
    • Steps to take when abuse is suspected or identified.
  6. Values of the Social Worker
    • Ethical principles in safeguarding and supporting vulnerable adults.

Assessment

  • Interactive Learning: Delegates will engage in group activities guided by experienced trainers.
  • Certification: Participants will receive a Safeguarding of Adults Certificate, valid for one year.

Standards and Compliance

  • Care Standard: Compliant with Standard 10 of care guidelines.
  • Qualification Achieved: Safeguarding of Adults Certificate.
